Fri., Sept. 11: The ECMSA opens our 34th season with a blockbuster program featuring violist Luke Fleming, Artistic Director of the Manhattan Chamber Players, and cellist Abby Monroe joining the Vega Quartet.

Wed., Oct. 7: If you like, bring a blanket and a picnic and dine alfresco while you enjoy beautiful brass music performed by Atlanta Brassworks on the Quadrangle in front of the Carlos Museum.

Alan Woo, piano

Fri., Oct. 16: Praised by the New York Times as a pianist with “assurance and vitality,” Alan Woo made his Lincoln Center debut at Alice Tully Hall performing with the Juilliard Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He brings a dynamic program of virtuoso piano music.

Robert McDuffie, violin; William Ransom, piano @ Emerson Concert Hall

Fri., Nov. 6: Violinist Robert McDuffie performs around the world as soloist with orchestras, recitalist, and chamber musician, from the New York Philharmonic to concerts with R. E. M. and the Rolling Stones. He recently received an Honorary Doctorate from Emory University.

Sara Sant'Ambrogio, cello; William Ransom, piano

Fri., Dec. 4: Grammy Award-winning cellist Sara Sant’Ambrogio, founder of the Eroica Trio, returns to Emory for a dazzling program including Spanish showpieces.

Beethoven's 5th @ Emerson Concert Hall: Julie & David Coucheron with Pianist William Ransom

Fri., January 15: Marking the 200th anniversary of Beethoven’s death, the ECMSA begins a whole year of tributes starting with two of his greatest 5ths- the “Spring” Sonata with violin and the great 5th Symphony in a thrilling transcription for piano, four hands.

The Lawson Ensemble

Fri., Feb. 26: The Lawson Ensemble, including Atlanta native cellist Nick Curry, is in residence at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. They are joined by ECMSA Artistic Director William Ransom for Trios of Beethoven.

Beethoven for Winds @ Emerson Concert Hall

Fri., March 5: Perhaps best known for his chamber music with piano and strings, Beethoven’s smaller output including winds is full of magical treasures as well. Enjoy a Quintet for Piano & Winds, a Sextet for 2 horns & strings and more.

Carnegie Hall Preview

Fri., April 2: To preview the ECMSA’s upcoming concert in Weill Hall @ Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Career Grant winner violinist Njioma Grevious and pianist William Ransom perform Beethoven’s great “Kreutzer” Sonata, originally dedicated to violinist George Bridgetower.

Bryan Wallick, piano

Fri., April 30: Bryan Wallick is increasingly recognized as one of the foremost American virtuoso pianists of his generation. A gold medalist of the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kyiv, he has performed extensively across the United States, Europe, and Africa.
